My collection of firework catalogs

When I'm not watching a firework show or setting of fireworks myself, I collect firework catalogs and put them online...

My collection of firework catalogs

In 1996 I received my first firework catalog. I kept this in a safe place and one year later I did this again. Since 2007 I started actively collecting the catalogs by asking my family and friends to collect them too. Nowadays I ask my Dutch- and international colleauges to send the catalogs. At the end of December I use my bicycle to get the catalogs from the neighberhoods of Amsterdam, Hoofddorp, Aalsmeer, Amstelveen, Diemen and Zaandam. Only this season (2015 - 2016) I collected a total of 185 unique ones (without duplicates).

After a couple of years of collecting, I was thinking about creating a website to put all my firework catalogs online. The domain name "Vuurwerk-folders.nl" was registered in 2008. One year later in August the first version of the website did go live.

If you talk about "Vuurwerk-folders.nl" in England or Spain, people don't understand what it means (it means "firework-catalogs.nl"). So, because of the Dutch name I decided to use a new, more international name. Plus, a new website was needed after 6 years.

Since 2014 you are able to register gTLD's. Amazon had invest a bit more money than me for the domain name "fire.works", but I succeeded to register "pyro.works". This is how Pyroworks was born.

This new website will be developed further with awesome new features. One goal is to make it easier to upload catalogs by everybody. I do have more ideas, but what this website will not be is a standard copy of a forum website. There are already enough of these kind of websites. You can read the documentation of all technical things of this website at the "DEV" section. It is still scanty, but that will change.
